Scheduling Events

We at Back Pages are committed to fostering the best discussions and events possible for our readers.  We have a small, dedicated staff, but must limit the number of on-site events we do.  If you are interested in inquiring about doing a reading or event at Back Pages, please read the FAQ below.  If you think an event's a good bet for us, or have questions, feel free to e-mail us at info (at) backpagesbooks (dot) com.

Q: What sorts of events do you host?

A: We host any genre, any style, anyone, but we do have our leanings based on who our readers would like to see.  It's worth scrolling backwards through our events calendar to see who's spoken here in the past.  That said, just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not a good fit.

Because of our co-sponsorships around the Boston area, we do not often host unsolicited events with poets and fiction writers, but if you have something that you think will work here, get in touch.

Q: What helps in scheduling an event?

A:  If you are a published author and have a publicist representing you at your publisher's house, it is always good to have them get in touch with us.  It's also good if you have something of an audience in the area.  They don't have to be droves, but weather in New England is notoriously unpredictable, so even a group of family and friends who are willing to drive through a blizzard with lightning behind it is a help.

Q:  What if I have an unconventional event idea?

A: We're always up for something unconventional.  Shoot us an e-mail.  The worst we can say is, "no thanks."
